Overview
This activity will move learners from their current level of competence and performance towards the goal of effective use of ultrasound-guided anesthesia with no block related nerve injuries.
Credits
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (12.50 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (12.50 hours)

Objectives
  1. Identify the relevant anatomy for the basic ultrasound-guided upper and lower extremity blocks and the transversus abdominis plane block.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to obtain the relevant images using ultrasound for the basic upper and lower extremity blocks and the transversus abdominis plane block
  3. Identify where the needle tip is relative to the expected nerve location for each of the blocks demonstrated
  4. Explain the indications, contraindications, and practical pearls related to upper and lower extremity blocks and the transversus abdominis plane block.
  5. Describe the etiologies of block-related nerve injuries.
  6. Use anatomy identification to avoid needle contact with nerve.
