Objectives
  1. Discuss the basic pathophysiology of various disease states including, gastroenterology, infectious disease, ne, general internal medicine, and hospital medicine.urology/psychiatry,
  2. Compare and contrast the safety and efficacy of various treatment options.
  3. Develop an evidence based treatment plan for various disease states based on recent clinical guidelines.
  4. Apply clinical reasoning skills and current treatment guidelines to a patient case.

Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician: The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.   

ABIM MOC:   Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 8.0 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Family Physician:  The AAFP has reviewed Progress 2020: Learning Together in the 21st Century and deemed it acceptable for up to 8.00 Online Only, Live AAFP Prescribed credit. Term of Approval is from 10/22/2020 to 10/23/2020. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacist:  CEI is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Following completion of the online activity exam and evaluation (accessible at www.CEImpact.com via a CPE Access Code given at the end of each activity), participants will be able to access their CPE Statement of Credit on CPE Monitor, www.MyCPEMonitor.net. 

Nurse: As of March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course. Please review the Iowa Board of Nursing's website for more information.   

Other Providers:  All participants may receive a certificate of participation for this conference upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
