Eastern Iowa LGBTQ Health and Wellness Virtual Conference

This is the first Eastern Iowa conference devoted to the health status and needs for the LGBTQ community.  In addition to opening and closing keynote speakers, there will be break-out sessions for clinicians (with continuing education credits available) and community members. This conference is a collaboration between the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, the College of Public Health, and One Iowa.

We encourage the following to attend:  
Community Members - The LGBTQ and the broader community are encouraged to attend. 
Medical Specialties - Primary Care and Surgical Subspecialties encouraged. Many other specialties would benefit as well.
Professions - Physician, Fellow, Medical Assistant, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Therapist, Other, Pharmacist, Physician Assistant, Psychologist, Social Worker, Student
Information provided will be applicable to all scopes of practice and certifications among healthcare professionals

Zoom links will be emailed to registered participants a few days before the conference.

1. Discuss standards of care for gender-affirming surgery

3. Describe health care concerns from the perspective of LGBTQ individuals

We want all students and members of the LGBTQ community to be able to attend and join in this vital programming. We offer community pricing for our education events. Community prices are pay what you can, either $0, $10, or $20. We also want to extend this offer to the broader community. Please join us in learning how to be more effective advocates for the LGBTQ community.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and the University of Iowa College of Public Health and One Iowa. The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.   

Nurse: Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the activity.  Please review the Iowa Board of Nursing's website for more information.   

Other Provider:  All participants may receive a certificate of participation for this activity upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
