The Geriatric Lecture Series is a series of video presentations devoted to topics in clinical geriatrics, designed to teach important principles in the care of older adults. This series will focus on Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS): what they are, why they are important, and the components of the AFHS framework.

How to complete this course for credit:

  1. Register.

  3. Complete the Attestation of Completion.
  4. Follow prompts to complete an evaluation. THIS STEP MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO ACCESS YOUR CERTIFICATE.

Objectives
  1. Describe what an Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) is.
  2. Discuss the first “M”, What Matters, and identify ways to use it in practice.
  3. Describe the second “M”, Mentation and discuss how it relates to Dementia.
  4. Describe the second “M”, Mentation and discuss how it relates to Delirium.
  5. Describe the second “M”, Mentation and discuss how it relates to Depression
  6. Describe the third “M”, Mobility and identify the screening and interventions used in practice.
  7. Describe the fourth “M”, Medications and identify the screenings and interventions used in practice
  8. Discuss the overlaps between Age-Friendly and Dementia Friendly communities

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and the Iowa Geriatric Education Center, College of Nursing. The Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
