Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Renewal Classes for Departments of Nursing and Respiratory

The ACLS course is designed to help all course participants succeed in acquiring the skills and knowledge they need to perform their professional role in resuscitation attempts.  This course is taught by American Heart Association qualified instructors and content experts in cardiovascular care.

Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (3.10 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (3.10 hours)

1. Apply the BLS (high quality CPR and early integration of AED), Primary and Secondary Assessments sequence for a systematic evaluation of adult patients.
2. Discuss early recognition and management of ACS and Stroke, including appropriate disposition.
3. Recognize and manage arrythmias and conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome.
4. Model effective communication while performing and evaluating resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of CPR quality, monitoring the patient’s physiologic response, and delivering real-time feedback as part of a high-performance team.

Nurse Managers/ANMs may register individuals for the initial and renewal classes through the ERMA system.

Contact hours will be awarded by UIHC Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34).  Participants must attend the entire program to receive full credit.
