With the increase of local COVID-19 infections due to the higher transmission rates of the delta variant we have decided to offer the symposium in a virtual format only.  Registration fees have been updated.  If you have already registered, you will receive an email notification of the change.  

We will begin with an overview of the latest heart failure guidelines as well as diagnosis of heart failure and treatment options. Our focus will be advanced heart failure, reviewing advanced treatment options for surgical advancements, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac diseases including valvular disease in this patient population.  Our multidisciplinary symposium will also include discussions on new technologies to monitor patients and improve quality of life. We will also discuss the new therapies for cardiac amyloid and sarcoid disease as well as review treatment of congenital heart disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (6.50 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (6.50 hours)

1. Recognize and diagnose early stages of heart failure
2. Discuss categories of pulmonary hypertension and apply recommended therapies
3. Evaluate patients who would benefit from advanced cardiac therapies, including devices, inotropic therapies, and left ventricular assist devices

Cancellation Policy
While registration is open until the start of the symposium, we encourage early registration to enable us to provide the best possible service to participants.  A $25 fee will be charged for cancelled registrations.  No refunds will be given for cancellations made after September 24, 2021.  

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.   

Nurse: Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the activity.  Please review the Iowa Board of Nursing's website for more information. 

Other Provider:  All participants may receive a certificate of participation for this activity.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
