Objectives
  1. Identify new and important directions in return to play and preventive care decisions for sports participants
  2. Describe best practices providing care for running injuries, leg pain, and anterior cruciate ligament injuries
  3. Discuss differing approaches to treatment and management of runners with injuries, leg pain due to vascular compromise, and athletes with ACL injuries
  4. Develop approaches to sports medicine practice for the multi-disciplinary athletic health care team
  5. Identify education and training pathways for athletic trainers that will add to successful professional development

There is a cancellation fee of $25.  No refunds for no shows or cancellations made after December 3, 2021.  

Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician: The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.   

Family Physician: The AAFP has reviewed 37th Annual University of Iowa Sports Medicine Symposium and deemed it acceptable for up to 7.50 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 12/10/2021 to 12/10/2021. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Athletic Trainer: University of Iowa P648 is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 7.5 EBP Category hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program

Nurse: As of March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course. Please review the Iowa Board of Nursing's website for more information.   

Physician Assistant/Physical Therapist/Other Provider: All participants may receive a certificate of participation for this conference upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
