Overview

This conference will be held virtually through Zoom.

This premiere conference will feature a diverse group of speakers including nationally renowned experts from University of Iowa HealthCare, along with Alec Stone, the well-known director of Health Policy at the Oncology Nursing Society national office and Laura Zitella, an esteemed oncology Nurse Practitioner from the University of California, San Francisco, who will provide insight into caring for people with various types of lymphoma. Tuesday will include pertinent updates on managing malignant melanoma, medical and surgical options for treating pancreatic cancer, and Susan Wells who will be speaking about her experience as a pancreatic cancer survivor. Other sessions on Day 1 include a discussion about a comprehensive approach to treating sexual dysfunction in oncology patients, 2021 updates on new oncology medications and the Mohs Micrographic surgery, indications, and patient management.

Wednesday presentations will include interesting discussions on the art of caring for geriatric oncology patients and assisting patients with symptoms management using the innovative OASIS Intervention. The breakout session format in the morning will allow attendees to choose between several different subject matters, including managing oral cavity cancers, challenging wound/skin/ostomy issues seen with oncology patients, racial/ethnic disparities in cancer, bladder cancer management, radiation therapy using MR-LINAC technology, and providing support to staff through the chaos of the pandemic. In the closing session, Selinza Mitchell, a nationally recognized oncology nurse, speaker, educator, and facilitator, will present. Ms Mitchell has developed a reputation as a master storyteller while delivering enlightening, motivational, and educational presentations. She will provide inspiration to the audience as she describes how listening for an understanding and clear communication are critical elements in improving patient’s outcomes.
