A limited number of short-term, metered visitor spaces are available at the College of Public Health Building. We recommend parking in the Newton Road Parking Ramp (360 Newton Road) and taking the pedestrian bridge over Highway 6 to the College of Public Health Building. The pedestrian bridge is handicap accessible.

 

UI Health Care, the UIHC Department of Nursing, the CCOM and the other health science colleges co-sponsor the annual Culturally Responsive Health Care in Iowa conference. The goal of this multidisciplinary, interprofessional conference is to improve the delivery of culturally sensitive and responsive health care to increasingly diverse patient populations.

  4. Discuss the risks of conformity and "model minority" expectations in professional communities and professionalism
  5. Describe the bioethical principle of justice in health care settings

Physician - $100
Allied Health/Public Health/Resident - $50
Student* - $20

Fees include registration, educational materials, CME/CE Credit, and to-go boxed lunch.  

*Student is defined as an individual going to school full-time or part-time and not holding a current license to practice, and not needing CE credit.

Note that eating is not permitted in the College of Public Health Building.


Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.   

Nurse: Effective March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course. (Nurses from other states should confirm with their licensing boards that this activity meets their state's licensing requirements.)

Dental Professionals and Students:  1 hour of Dental CE credit will be awarded for attending Dr. Tansey’s presentation, and 1 hour of Dental CE credit will be awarded for attending either the  presentation by Dr. Newman and Ms. Hennessey or Ms. Crotty et al.  Maximum Dental CE=2 hours.  Print your name clearly on the Dental CE sign-in sheets for each session you attend.  

Other Provider:  All other participants will receive a certificate of participation for this conference upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
