Overview

This 4 module online sexual assault training presents several topics important for all healthcare providers to treat and care for victims. Topics include: Sexual Assault and Trauma, Sexual Assault Response Teams, SANEs, Sexual Assault Exam and Kit, Track Kit System, Laws, CVAD and Billing, and Hospital Protocols and Procedures.  

How to complete this course for credit:

  1. Register for the course.
  2. View all 4 videos, in order. (see 'Course Content & Tests' tab)
  3. Complete and pass the post-test with a score of 85%. The test may be retaken as needed to attain a passing score.
  4. After passing the post-test, follow prompt to complete and submit the evaluation. 
  5. Your certificate will be available under 'My CE' after you submit the evaluation.

Objectives
  1. Identify areas where care for sexual assault patients is lacking and specify needs to prepare for future legislation
  2. Apply and demonstrate skills learned to provide more trauma informed, patient centered care
  3. Demonstrate measurable improvement in the "team" approach by using available community resources
  4. Assess current protocols and develop policies that follow current best practices in the field

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and the Office of the Attorney General of Iowa. The Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CME Credit Designation
The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses
Effective March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course.
