Objectives
  1. Explore how clinical guidelines are developed
  2. Discuss value-based care and implications for the future of Medicare
  3. List factors to consider in applying hypertension guidelines to clinical practice
  4. Explain how adherence to guidelines can reduce care costs and improve outcomes
  5. Review guidelines for vaccinations for older adults
  6. Identify methods to remediate loss, errors, and burnout in health care professionals
  7. Discuss the future of nursing facility based care
  8. Identify delirium in the nursing facility setting
  9. Determine appropriate assistive devices for older adults with mobility impairments
  10. Describe culturally responsive health care for older adults
  11. Explore ethical issues pertaining to autonomy and cognitive impairment

Registration

Course fees include registration, tuition and online handouts.

Registration fees through 1/14/23

  • Physicians - $75.00
  • Nurses, Physician Assistants and Allied Health Care Professionals - $50.00
  • Health Science Students - $50.00

Registration fees from 1/15/23 - 1/24/23

  • Physicians - $125.00
  • Nurses, Physician Assistants and Allied Health Care Professionals - $75.00
  • Health Science Students - $75.00

All but $25.00 of the fee is refundable if inability to attend is made known on or before 1/21/23.


Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Physician:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Family Physician:  The AAFP has reviewed Midwestern Conference on Health Care in the Older Adult and deemed it acceptable for up to 6.75 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 01/27/2023 to 01/27/2023. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1. 

Nurse:  Effective March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course. (Nurses from other states should confirm with their licensing boards that this activity meets their state's licensing requirements.)

Other Provider:  All other participants will receive a certificate of participation for this conference upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
