Designed for primary care providers, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and nurses.  Lectures and breakout sessions will provide an update on the current diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases that commonly arise in adults and children in the community, and would routinely be encountered by the health care team in the Midwest.

Objectives
  1. Recognize the intersection between substance use disorder and infections and understand how to help mitigate these infections
  2. Review the appropriate management of antibiotic allergies and understand best practices for de-labeling penicillin allergies
  3. Review the new guidelines for diagnosis and management of infections with Clostridoides difficile
  4. Discuss the diagnosis and management of pediatric sinopulmonary infections
  5. Review management of HIV for the primary care provider
  6. Recognize appropriate indications for antibiotic prophylaxis
  7. Review the evidence and guidelines for management of COVID-19 in the outpatient setting
  8. Discuss the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare associated infections
  9. Understand the infectious risks associated with various biologic agents and discuss how this shapes our diagnostic workup and management of patients on these medications
  10. Recognize risk factors for various zoonotic infection and understand the clinical manifestations and management of these infections
  11. Review the ACIP adult vaccination guidelines, highlighting recent changes
  12. Understand the evidence behind treatment options and duration for complicated UTIs, including those caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria
