Objectives
  1. Describe physiologic principles of maternal and fetal oxygen transfer as they apply to principles of fetal heart monitoring.
  2. Appraise the fetal response to maternal pathological and physiological adaptations during the labor process.
  3. Analyze complex case studies and tracings using standardized terminology.
  4. Apply perinatal risk management principles, communication techniques, and documentation strategies to complex and challenging patient care scenarios.

Course Fees:

  • UIHC OB Nurses working on the in-patient units: No Fee (Course materials will be provided)
  • All Other UIHC Staff: $80, which does not include the cost of the AWHONN required course materials.
  • Participants outside UIHC: $80, which does not include the cost of the AWHONN required course materials.
  • Registration Deadline August 22, 2023

Accreditation

Nursing Credits: Participants who attend the full day of the course are awarded seven (7) hours of continuing nursing education (CNE) credit or seven (7) hours of continuing medical education (CME) credit. The course includes an optional posttest with 80% being the requirement for successful completion. AWHONN is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. AWHONN also holds a California BRN number: California CNE provider #CEP580. Accredited status does not imply endorsement by AWHONN or ANCC of any commercial products displayed or discussed in conjunction with an activity.
