Culturally Responsive Health Care In Iowa: Beyond Health Care: Addressing the Social Determinants of Health

The conference will focus on the theme of Beyond Healthcare - Addressing the Social Determinants of Health. It will consist of a national and local keynote speaker in addition to panel discussions and local expert sessions.

Parking
We recommend parking in the Newton Road Parking Ramp (360 Newton Rd) and taking the pedestrian bridge over Highway 6 to the College of Public Health Building. The pedestrian bridge is handicap accessible.  A limited number of short-term, metered, visitor spaces are available at the College of Public Health Building.

1. Identify Social Determinants of Health impacting an individual's health and health care.
2. Describe strategies to address the Social Determinants of Health in various health care and community settings.

Student* - $20

*Student is defined as an individual going to school full-time or part-time and not holding a current license to practice, and not needing CE credit. 

Fees include registration, educational materials, CME/CE Credit, and lunch.

Physician:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse:  The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine designates this activity for a maximum of 4.0 ANCC contact hours.  Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Social Worker:  As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine  is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 4.0 continuing education credit(s).

Dentist: Attendees can receive up to 4 hours of dental CE Credit.

All other participants will receive a certificate of participation for this conference upon completion of the online evaluation.   It is the responsibility of each attendee to determine if the continuing education programs they attend meet the requirements of their professional licensure board.
