Gastroenterology Nursing Conference 2023

This conference will be held virtually through Zoom.

The purpose of this one-day conference is to optimize the care of the gastrointestinal patient by providing attendees with advanced knowledge and new innovative care that would impact gastrointestinal nursing staff and patients.

Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (5.00 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (5.00 hours)

1. Discuss the latest updates in inflammatory bowel disease management.
2. Discuss the risk factors for acute pancreatitis, criterions to access severity of pancreatitis, nutrition in acute pancreatitis, and role of antibiotics in acute pancreatitis.
3. Identify two ways to manage high ileostomy output and rationale.
4. Provide education and information on the cecostomy population that is served within the department.
5. Identify at least one treatment option for lower motility disorders.
6. Increase awareness of clinical trials as a treatment option versus standard of care.
7. Review the changing demographics of colorectal cancer, with focus on early onset disease, possible causes, and implications for screening and treatment.

Registration Fee:
$40 (Add $15 after 9/13/2023)

Registration closes on 9/20/2023.

Refund: Full refund (minus $10 cancellation fee) if notification received on or before 9/20/2023.

The Zoom link and any additional conference details will be provided the week prior to the conference.

5.0 contact hours will be granted by UIHC Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34). Participants must attend the entire program to receive full credit. Questions concerning nursing credits should be directed to the Nursing Clinical Education Center (319) 356-1238.
