Overview

The program is designed to present health care professionals with current knowledge about diagnosis, management, and prevention of a variety of injuries commonly incurred in sports participation and to emphasize uniquely influential factors that must be addressed in the provision of the highest quality of care to the competitive athlete. We will present specific performance improvement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of detectable problems that exist in athletes. In addition to lectures, case studies and interactive discussions will be offered to enhance the participant’s understanding of the topics presented.

Upon completion of this educational activity, members of the health care team should be able to:

  1. Compare and contrast their applications to recognition, assessment, and treatment practices with current research
  2. Discuss current options for treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, on field emergencies, and providing a safe sports environment
  3. Assess the efficacy and adverse effects of current and emerging therapies
  4. Describe the use of emerging therapies in clinical practice treating musculoskeletal conditions and determining return to play
  5. Analyze their role as a member of the health care team using current evidence-based best practices
