Site Specific Oncology – Solid Tumors

The purpose of this class is to provide information for nurses on cancer site specific solid tumors.  This includes etiology, diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, and expected outcomes.


Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (6.25 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (6.25 hours)

1. Describe early detection and recent advances in the treatment of breast cancer.
2. Identify the surgical and medical interventions for patients with cancers of the genitourinary tract.
3. Review surgical and medical treatment for patients with lung and esophageal cancer.
4. Identify the medical interventions for patients with colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer.
5. Describe the diagnosis, treatment, and nursing interventions for people with head and neck cancer.

Registration Fees:
•UIHC Nursing Staff working on oncology units: No Fee
•UIHC All Other Nurses: $25/class
•Non-UIHC Employees: $96/class (Fee includes workshop materials, breaks, parking and CE credits.)  There is a $20 nonrefundable late fee if registering after the February 20, 2024 deadline. 

Refunds:  Full refund (less the $20 late fee) if notified 3 days prior to the program.  Substitutions are permitted at any time.


6.25 contact hours will be granted by UIHC Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34).  Participants must attend each session in its entirety to receive full credit.
