25th Annual Update in Infectious Diseases

This program is designed for physicians with specialists in family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics; physician assistants, pharmacists; nurses; and individuals in training for these careers. Lectures and interactive breakout sessions will provide an update on the current, state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases that commonly arise in adults and/or children in the community and would routinely be encountered by primary care providers in the Midwest.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (6.00 hours), AAPA Category 1 CME credit (6.00 hours), ACPE Credit (6.00 hours), ANCC Contact Hours (6.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (6.00 hours)

1. Recognize the indications for newly recommended vaccines and changes from prior recommendations
2. Discuss how travel affects the likelihood of different infections and how this affects their clinical management in returning travelers
3. Explain how the changes in climate is affecting the epidemiology of endemic fungal infections
4. Review current best practices for management of chronic wounds
5. Discuss RSV infections in children, including epidemiology, management, and prevention of this infection.
6. Recognize the changes in management and prevention of HIV and other STIs
7. Review lessons learned from the recent COVID-19 pandemic
8. Discuss the changing epidemiology of syphilis in Iowa, review management of congenital syphilis, and explain the nuances of diagnosis and management of syphilis in adults
9. Summarize the current data for diagnosis, management, and prevention of COVID-19

Cancellation Policy: 
There is a cancellation fee of $25.  No refunds for no shows or cancellations made after April 25, 2024.
