Basic Perioperative TEE Review Course

Intraoperative evaluation of hemodynamic function is often challenging. Anesthesia providers need to make decisions based on their assessment of the patient’s fluid status, cardiac contractility and valvular function. Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has been validated as a minimally-invasive tool for such cardiac evaluation. The impact of TEE extends from extreme scenarios (intraoperative cardiac arrest or severe hemodynamic instability) to routine monitoring in appropriate patients who might undergo significant fluid shifts intraoperatively. This course will allow anesthesia providers to review the basic principles of perioperative TEE monitoring.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (7.25 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (7.25 hours)

1. Identify the safety, indications, contraindications and complications for perioperative TEE
2. Relate the underlying physics and anatomical relationships while performing perioperative TEE
3. Differentiate between normal and abnormal ventricular and valvular function
4. Evaluate hemodynamic function with perioperative TEE

Cancellation requests must be made via email to [email protected] by the end of the day, May 31, 2024.  Such requests will be refunded the cost of registration less a $25.00 per person fee.  Any requests for cancellation/refunds after that date will not be honored.
