Join Dr. Gerry Clancy and his guest, Dr. Rick Dobyns, as they discuss identification of patients who are in their last year of life and how health care providers can help these patients understand the decisions that must be made as well as how to prioritize their remaining time. Objectives
  1. Recognize the increased need to address end-of-life issues as aging Baby Boomer generation patients get closer to these important periods for planning their last year of life.
  2. Apply new knowledge of prognostication and trajectories of the terminal illness process to guide patients in identifying what may be their last year of life.
  3. Describe the last-year-of-life concept, what decisions and directives need to happen, and how to help patients prioritize their time.

Registration

Registration & Fees There is no charge to listen to the podcast, but registration is required to obtain a credit certificate, and there is a $11.25 fee (no charge for UI Faculty, Staff and Adjuncts).


Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
