Overview
The purpose of these monthly sessions is to provide clinical education to SFCHL11
nursing staff. This will be a monthly hour long session to educate staff on current nursing
and safety topics specifically chosen to enhance the knowledge and skills of those caring
for the unique hematology/oncology pediatric patient population.

Objectives
  1. Definition of compassion fatigue
  2. How to recognize compassion fatigue, signs and symptoms
  3. Methods to reduce compassion fatigue and increase resiliency
  4. Recognize new treatments for the patients we have on it
  5. Be able to question why some patients are not on it
  6. Discuss Risk and Benefits of Transplant in Sickle Cell Anemia
  7. Review viral specific T-cells and their role post SCT
  8. Evaluate strategies to support siblings of SCT patients

Registration
There is no fee to attend Journal Clubs for nursing CE credits.

Accreditation

1.0 contact hour/session will be granted by University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics
Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34). Participants must attend each session
in its entirety to receive full credit; partial credit will not be awarded. Questions
concerning nursing credit should be directed to the Nursing Clinical Education Center at 319-
356-1238.
