Overview
The purpose of this class is to provide information for nurses on cancer site specific solid tumors.  This includes etiology, diagnosis, treatment, symptom management, and expected outcomes.


Credits
Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (6.50 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (6.50 hours)

Objectives
  1. Describe early detection and recent advances in the treatment of breast cancer.
  2. Identify the surgical and medical interventions for patients with cancers of the genitourinary tract.
  3. Review surgical and medical treatment for patients with lung and esophageal cancer.
  4. Identify the medical interventions for patients with colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer.
  5. Describe the diagnosis, treatment, and nursing interventions for people with head and neck cancer.

Registration
$96/class for nurses not employed at UI Hospitals and Clinics.   Fee includes workshop materials, breaks, parking and CE credits.  There is a $20 nonrefundable late fee if registering after the deadline. This class is offered at no cost to UI Hospitals & Clinics Department of Nursing staff working on oncology units and $25/class for all other nurses employed at UI Hospitals and Clinics. Fee includes CE credit and workshop materials.

Refunds:  Full refund (less the $20 late fee) if notified 3 days prior to the program.  Substitutions are permitted at any time.

Accreditation

6.5 Continuing Education credit will be granted by UIHC Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34).  Participants must attend each session in its entirety to receive full credit.
