Medical Surgical Nursing Conference 2024

This conference will be held virtually through Zoom.

The purpose of this conference is to optimize the care of medical-surgical patients by providing advance knowledge and innovative care strategies impacting medical-surgical nurses and patients in a variety of settings.

Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (6.60 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (6.60 hours)

1. Review indications for autologous breast reconstruction and discuss timeline of autologous breast reconstruction and subsequent surgeries.
2. Identify the role of nursing as part of the safety system in the care of epilepsy patients.
3. Describe the role of a registered dietitian and appropriate medical nutrition therapy in the care of a medical-surgical patient.
4. Discuss natural history and treatment of hip dysplasia in young adults.
5. Review best practices in providing end-of-life care.
6. Discuss optimal timing for premeal blood glucose assessment.
7. Identify common early postoperative complications after bariatric surgery.
