Objectives
  1. Recognize non-dementia signs of cognitive impairment
  2. Review the differential diagnoses of cognitive impairment and complexities of diagnosis
  3. Discuss the components of decision making capacity assessment
  4. Describe Guardianship and Conservatorship under Iowa law
  5. Apply research updates in dementia to clinical practice
  6. Analyze the appropriateness, risks and benefits of medications designed to enhance cognition in persons with dementia
  7. Discuss the impact on family caregivers of living with and caring for a loved one with Major Neurocognitive Disorder
  8. Explore challenges and best practices in providing end of life care to persons with dementia
  9. Identify safety concerns and effective prevention and intervention strategies for persons with dementia

Fees:
Primary Care Providers $75.00
Other Allied Health Professionals ,Students and Emeritus Faculty - $50.00
As of January 15, 2022, fees will increase as follows:
Primary Care Providers - $125.00
Other Allied Health Professionals, Students, and Emeritus Faculty- $75.00
Refunds: (minus a $25.00 administrative fee) will be honored through close of business on January 21, 2022 

A Zoom link will be provided on the day of the conference if registration has occurred after 4:00 pm on 1.27.22. 

 

 


Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nurses: Effective March 18, 2020, Iowa nurses may use participation in ACCME-accredited education toward their CE requirement for licensure. A certificate of participation will be available after successful completion of the course.
