Objectives
  1. Discuss the basic pathophysiology of various disease states including gastroenterology, hepatology, hospital medicine, infectious diseases, general internal medicine, neurology, and psychiatry.
  2. Describe clinical pearls that aid in treatment and/or diagnosis of hepatitis C, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy.
  3. Compare and contrast the safety and efficacy of treatment options available for various disease states.
  4. Develop an evidence-based treatment plan for various disease states based on recent clinical practice guidelines.
  5. Apply clinical reasoning skills and current treatment guidelines to a patient case.

A late fee of $75 will be added to the fees above for all registrations made after September 22, 2017.  While registration is open until the start of the conference, we encourage early registration to enable us to provide the best possible service.  All but $50 of the fee is refundable if inability to attend is made known on or before September 15, 2017.  Refunds will not be made after this date. 


Accreditation

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ABIM MOC:   Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 13.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

The Collaborative Education Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Following completion of the online activity exam and evaluation (accessible at www.GoToCEI.org via a CPE Access Code given at the end of each activity), participants will be able to access their CPE Statement of Credit on CPE Monitor, www.MyCPEMonitor.net. Up to 7.0 hrs./0.7 CEUs can be earned on Thursday, October 5th and up to 6.5 hrs./0.65 CEUs on Friday, October 6th. For complete CPE information, please go to www.GoToCEI.org.

Nurse Practitioner:  1.62 CEUs  (16.2 contact hours) will be granted by University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing (IBN Approved Provider #34).  Participants must attend the entire program to receive full credit.  Questions concerning nursing credits should be directed to the Nursing Clinical Education Center at (319) 356-4304.

Family Physician:  Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Determination of credit is pending.
