Heart Failure 360:  A Multidisciplinary Approach

Objectives
  1. Identify and treat patients with Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction
  2. Examine therapeutic strategies for Heart Failure and Preserved Ejection Fraction
  3. Describe the development of VAD technology and how current VADs function
  4. Discuss present day survival with LVADs
  5. Explain the cardiac side effects of chemotherapy and discuss the impact of radiation on the heart
  6. Identify patients who are best candidates for monitoring devices
  7. Interpret data from device monitoring and how to apply it in your management of chronic heart failure patients
  8. Identify patients at risk for PH and the importance of early recognition and testing to diagnose Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)
  9. Discuss changes in the approach to medical treatment of PAH
  10. Identify patients who may receive treatment-related benefits from SGLT2 inhibitor initiation
  11. Describe the initiation and management of SGLT2 inhibitors
  12. Describe the pathophysiology of tricuspid regurgitation and various management strategies
  13. Identify personality and behavior patterns that contribute to heart failure
  14. Examine the psychological sequelae of heart failure, including potential mental health interventions
  15. Discuss heart failure from the patient perspective and integrate the patient’s journey from LVAD through transplant
  16. Describe the role of palliative care in the patient with heart failure
  17. Identify patients with heart failure who may benefit from palliative care
  18. Discuss types of cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) and the interdependency of renal and cardiac function on patient outcomes
  19. Discuss treatment of CRS, specifically management of diuretic therapy for patients with cardiac and renal disease
  20. Identify the benefits of exercise training in the heart failure population and the types of exercise that are beneficial to patients with heart failure
