Medical Surgical Nursing Conference 2023

This conference will be held virtually through Zoom.

The purpose of this conference is to optimize the care of medical-surgical patients by providing advance knowledge and innovative care strategies impacting medical-surgical nurses and patients in a variety of settings.

Iowa Board of Nursing, Provider #34 (6.10 hours), Non-Nurse Attendance (6.10 hours)

1. Explain the proper trach care and maintenance of artificial airways.
2. Describe current evidence based interventions to prevent and treat delirium.
3. Describe risk factors for delayed and impaired wound healing. Discuss the management of challenging wound/skin/ostomy situations seen in oncology patients.
4. Differentiate alcohol withdrawal from other withdrawal symptoms. Identify signs and symptoms of a severe alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
5. Describe techniques aimed at preventing emotional and behavioral escalation of people in a workplace or educational setting. Discuss how to respond to escalated individuals.
6. Discuss the difference between sex, gender identity, and gender expression.
7. Discuss genital gender affirmation surgery for gender dysphoria in transwomen.

University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Employees Fee:
$40
