Overview

The 2025 Annual Meeting of Iowa Radiological Society will explore imaging in Chest and Cardiovascular pathologies, as well as regulatory landscape for radiologists with local and national experts.

Building Entrance:  To enter MERF use the West Atrium Entrance. Follow the sidewalk on the west side of the building to the set of doors located at the top of the hill. The conference registration desk will be inside these doors.

Parking is available at prevailing rates in the Newton Road Ramp, located at 360 Newton Road, across the street from the Medical Education and Research Facility.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the Importance of Lung cancer Staging – Explain why accurate staging is critical for prognosis and treatment planning.
  2. Describe the TNM Classification System – Define the Tumor (T), Node (N), and Metastasis (M) components used in staging lung cancer.
  3. Identify Different Stages of Lung Cancer – Differentiate between stages (I-IV) and their clinical significance.
  4. Review Staging Modalities – Discuss imaging techniques (CT, PET-CT, MRI) and procedures (bronchoscopy, EBUS, mediastinoscopy) used for staging.
  5. Explain Recommended Screening Methods – Describe the role of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) in early detection.
  6. Review Current Screening Guidelines – Discuss national and international guidelines for lung cancer screening (e.g., USPSTF, NCCN).
  7. Promote Early Detection and Patient Education – Explore strategies for increasing screening participation and improving patient awareness.
  8. Differentiate ILD from other pulmonary conditions based on clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic features.
  9. Describe the clinical presentation of ILD, including symptoms, history, and physical exam findings. Review diagnostic tools, including: High-Resolution CT (HRCT) patterns and their significance
  10. Identify major ILD subtypes, including Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), Connective Tissue Disease-Associated ILD (CTD-ILD), Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (HP), Sarcoidosis, and others.
  11. Explain factors affecting prognosis and disease progression.
  12. Review strategies for monitoring ILD progression and response to treatment.
