Describe up-to-date ocular treatments and therapies and how those correlate to patient care. More effectively describe, diagnose and treat common and rare ocular diseases. Present and engage with research being conducted in our department and the Institute of Vision Research.

Objectives
  1. Identify the major complications of uveitis and outline the appropriate diagnostic work-up, including laboratory testing.
  2. Formulate treatment strategies for uveitis, including indications for systemic corticosteroids, steroid-sparing agents, and perioperative management
  3. Explain the role of inflammation and intraocular cytokines in the development and progression of diabetic retinopathy, and evaluate their potential as biomarkers.
  4. Discuss current limitations in managing diabetic eye disease, including the predictive value of hemoglobin A1c and the need for improved therapeutic targets.
